I am very proud to be carrying the debut release by THE NEXT BIG THING.

The band is an acoustic trio featuring pop journalist/musician Gary Pig Gold, and musicians Shane Faubert and Jeremy Lee. ALL OF IT - 2009 expanded reissue out now

Originally released in 2004 as a six song ep, ALL OF IT features Don Campau and Ray Carmen taking turns providing backing tracks for the other to write lyrics and add vocals to. This new reissue features seven bonus tracks: two from Don Campau's PEN PALS 3 project, and one from Carmen's ULTRA SOUND release, and four songs which were re-recorded for Ray's OLD SCHOOL, OLD FOOL release. Ray's power-pop sensibilities and Don's incredible guitar playing and punky vocals make this a perfect match on songs like Alone On The Bus, Little Angel and the title track. True to the title, this release now gathers are all of Don and Ray's collaboations to date.

My new band (well, it's not my band, per se, but I'm in it) The Wowsermen are now on MySpace, with two tunes...and the above logo. Pics and an ep release will be forthcoming. A Teeny Weeny Bit, and Dontcha Just Know It were slammed out during practice a few weeks ago. Don't expect pristine sound quality, but the two featured songs are--in my opinion--a helluva lot of fun! Imagine The Beatles and The Trashmen sharing a bill at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany in 1961, and you'll get a pretty fair idea of what we sound like. Er, here's a blast from my past...

OK, so I googled my name today (don't look at me like that, you know you've googled your own name, too), and came across this:

This was from back in the day, when the cassette underground was in full swing. I, like many others, put out tons of cassettes, and this particular one was a bunch of remixes (hence the title) and an unreleased (at that time) track, called More Than Enough. I recorded it for my NOTHING PERSONAL CD, but the record company (Emigre) rejected it (hrummph!--actually, I can't blame them, it's not one of my better songs). Anyway, one of my fave underground bands, Hermanos Guzanos, posted this online back in February. Thanks for the plug, guys!

The Chick Wowser Show, Podcast #9, and the Cut And Paste Singles Club

Starting January 2009 I will unleash The Cut And Paste Records Singles Club. How this works is, you sign up via email, and every month in 2009 I will email you two mp3 tracks of my music. It will be a mix of various album tracks, new stuff, rough mixes, alternate takes, instrumental versions, etc. Sometimes I might send out three tracks, for a sort of email ep. I'm debating whether or not to mock up covers to go with each month's selections--it depends on how much time I have.
