Visit the Living Archive Of Underground Music
My friend Don Campau has published an amazing web page on the history of 1980s-1990s cassette culture underground music. This is a great place to find out what it was all about, how it started, who the key figures were, etc. The underground music scene is as big as ever and continues to thrive in the age of cd-rs, mp3s, wave files, etc. but this is where it all started. Check it out:

Thanks Don for your incredible hard work.

Ray Carmen videos now on You Tube
In the mid to late 1990s I made videos for Monster, You Ought To Be In Pictures, and Race Against Time, as well as several other songs. They were available as part of a now deleted video collection called Picture Start. Ken Clinger has posted them on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/user/sallymaehogsby. You can also view them in all their murky home-made glory at the official Ray Carmen YouTube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/cutandpaste, and on MySpace at: www.myspace.com/raycarmen.

Out now - it's The Next Big Thing!!
I am very proud to be carrying the debut release by THE NEXT BIG THING.
The band is an acoustic trio featuring pop journalist/musician Gary Pig Gold, and musicians Shane Faubert and Jeremy Lee. NBT-4-CNP (Next Big Thing For Cut And Paste) is an incredibly tuneful, energetic recording, and is loads of fun to listen to! For a little more info on the band I thought I would include what they wrote for their press release:
Here’s the Story…..
SHANE FAUBERT pioneered New York City’s garage-pop explosion with The Cheepskates.
GARY PIG GOLD started up Canada’s very first music fanzine
“The Pig Paper.”
JEREMY LEE joined with The Cheepskates right after auditioning for
The New Monkees.
Then Gary moved to New York upon releasing the “Valentino’s
Pirates” album on Russia’s Melodiya label.
Shane asked Gary to help produce two of his solo albums,
“San Blass” and then “Squirrelboy Blue.”
Meanwhile, Jeremy found a Cajon drum while shopping in his local
music store.
so Finally,
Tired of sitting around waiting for that Next Big Thing to appear,
Shane invited Gary, Jeremy, and the Cajon over to his house,
they took out some guitars, opened their mouths,
and out came the sounds Cut And Paste now bring to your house!

So, to add my personal note here...if there are any indie labels out there interested in actually releasing this album to a much wider audience, please visit the band's web site and get in touch with them! This is one of the best indie releases I've heard in a long long time, and it really deserves a huge audience.
In the meantime...it's available for $5 ppd. from Cut And Paste! Make checks or money orders payable to Ray Carmen (not Cut And Paste Records). Cash is accepted but please cover it well. Send all your hard-earned moolah to :

2009 email catalog now available
If you'd like an email version of the new 2009 catalog email me at cutandpasterecords at yahoo dot com and I will send you one!
ALL OF IT - 2009 expanded reissue out now
Originally released in 2004 as a six song ep, ALL OF IT features Don Campau and Ray Carmen taking turns providing backing tracks for the other to write lyrics and add vocals to. This new reissue features seven bonus tracks: two from Don Campau's PEN PALS 3 project, and one from Carmen's ULTRA SOUND release, and four songs which were re-recorded for Ray's OLD SCHOOL, OLD FOOL release. Ray's power-pop sensibilities and Don's incredible guitar playing and punky vocals make this a perfect match on songs like Alone On The Bus, Little Angel and the title track. True to the title, this release now gathers are all of Don and Ray's collaboations to date.
Track list:
Original 2004 release:
1. All Of It (2:31)
2. Spinning In My Grave (2:53)
3. Use Of Force (4:11)
4. Little Angel (3:02)
5. Alone On The Bus (3:23)
6. Ideals (3:36)
2009 bonus tracks:
7. Duet For Inside Piano And Mixing Bowl (3:21) (from ULTRA SOUND)
8. Trial By Fire (3:02) (from PEN PALS 3)
9. Grown Man Cry (2:46) (from PEN PALS 3 and OLD SCHOOL, OLD FOOL)
10. Spinning In My Grave (3:00) (from OLD SCHOOL)
11. Ideals (3:54) (from OLD SCHOOL)
12. Little Angel (3:19) (from OLD SCHOOL)
13. Trial By Fire (3:18) (from OLD SCHOOL)
As always, the cdr comes with a lyric sheet, and is packaged in a plastic sleeve, and it's five bucks postage paid.

Ultra Sound makes best of list
My ULTRA SOUND disc from 2008 made Don Campau's Best Of 2008 list for his No Pigeonholes radio show in Cupertino, California. To see the complete list (featuring a lot of great underground artists) go to: http://www.doncampau.com/. Thanks, Don!

WOW! ep now available
WOW!, the debut ep from the Wowsermen is now available! It contains four songs recorded in rehearsal:
1. Just A Little Bit (1:56)
2. It's Gonna Be Alright (2:05)
3. Dontcha Just Know It (2:55)
4. The Wowsermen Stomp (3:02)
The band are: Chick Wowser - vocals and rhythm guitar, Junior Wowser - vocals and lead guitar, Bud Wowser (er, that's me) - vocals and drums. Our stand-in bass player, Wowie Wowser, handled the low end. If you like the sound of the Beatles circa The Star Club in Hamburg Germany 1961, mixed with the abandon of The Trashmen, and 60s Merseybeat, then you'll dig The Wowsermen. To hear a couple of tracks (before Wowie put down the bass parts...), go to our MySpace page: www.myspace.com/thewowsermen. To order a copy of WOW!, send $5 to Cut And Paste Records, POB 152, Green, OH 44232 USA. Pics and local gigs coming soon...we're excited!

The Wowsermen on MySpace
My new band (well, it's not my band, per se, but I'm in it) The Wowsermen are now on MySpace, with two tunes...and the above logo. Pics and an ep release will be forthcoming. A Teeny Weeny Bit, and Dontcha Just Know It were slammed out during practice a few weeks ago. Don't expect pristine sound quality, but the two featured songs are--in my opinion--a helluva lot of fun! Imagine The Beatles and The Trashmen sharing a bill at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany in 1961, and you'll get a pretty fair idea of what we sound like. Give us a listen at www.myspace.com/thewowsermen, and leave us a comment!
